About URAM Analytics
Howdy, my name is Sean Sullivan.
I started URAM Analytics in 2020 while I was a graduate student at DePaul University. At the time, I was working as a Senior Analyst at a digital marketing agency, but I knew I wanted to pivot into a Data Science career, specifically in the sports world. I needed a place to centralize my work, so URAM began as a simple portfolio.
As my skillset has evolved, so has the site. It’s no longer just a collection of past school projects; it’s a hub for my current independent research and a toolkit for others trying to navigate this space.
My approach to sports analytics is pretty straightforward: I want to build things that have actual utility. Whether it’s a framework for evaluating pitching change decisions that a team can use or an analysis that offers specific pitch profile suggestions, I’ve shifted my focus toward projects that provide actionable insights. I still love a deep dive into the data, but I’m most interested in the "so what" that comes out of it.
Beyond my own research, I’ve tried to make URAM a central home for the resources I wish I had when I started. This includes a regularly maintained job board, links to datasets, and info on industry contests and conferences.
Ultimately, URAM is a mix of my own work and a resource hub for the community. Whether you’re a team looking to collaborate or an analyst looking for your next role, I hope you find something useful here.
I’m always happy to talk shop, so feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn or follow along with my latest posts on Twitter.
